The Modern Group Ltd. traces its beginnings to 1946 when the Modern Handling Equipment Company was formed to sell Hyster forklift trucks. The company grew steadily, acquiring dealerships and offering equipment rentals. A holding company, Modern Group Ltd., was established in 1979 for all the dealerships and rental companies that this initial venture spawned.
Several new product lines were added, including warehouse products, standby power generators, rough terrain forklifts, telehandlers, backhoe loaders, skid steers, excavators, track loaders, carry deck cranes, snow plows and pushers, and ice control equipment. In 1984 Modern employees purchased shares in the business after it was converted into an ESOP Trust. Today, Modern’s employees think and act like owners…because they are.

We feature: industrial forklifts from Hyster; standby generators from Generac; construction and earth moving equipment from New Holland and Terex; chippers and grinders from Bandit; cranes from Broderson, Elliott, Palfinger, Snooper and Terex; rough terrain forklifts and telehandlers from JLG, Lull, Skytrak, and Terex; plus warehouse and rack products from Kelley and Ridg-U-Rak. We also now offer Toro Dingo loaders!

We started in Philadelphia and now serve the construction industry with equipment throughout Eastern PA, NJ and DE and their surrounding regions. Modern is known for distributing manufacturers' lines like Bandit Industries, New Holland, JLG, Terex, Elliott, Palfinger, Genie, Lull, and Broderson that are dependable and proven.
Modern provides 24 hour emergency road service to our contractors and industrial customers. When you're in a bind we respond with a sense of urgency to get your equipment back to work as soon as possible. Modern provides service and maintenance agreements along with OSHA required AMI (Annual Machine Inspections) for aerial lifts to help you manage your fleet and keep you rolling.
