Wacker Neuson, a leading manufacturer of compact construction machines and light equipment, has acquired one of the most modern manufacturing sites for construction equipment in the Upper Austrian town of Hörsching, near Linz. Compact excavators, wheel and crawler-mounted dumpers as well as skid steer loaders have been rolling off the production line since May 2012 and are sold worldwide.

“With a total investment of 65 million Euros into our new compact equipment facilities, we have highlighted not only our commitment to the Upper Austrian region of Linz but also our confidence in the future of the company”, reports Cem Peksaglam, CEO of Wacker Neuson SE. “Wacker Neuson has produced compact equipment in Linz for over three decades. The site we have chosen for our new factory will allow us to retain our long-term and highly qualified employees along with the expertise they have gathered over the decades. We have appointed over 200 new employees and trainees for Wacker Neuson over the past year. We currently employ around 550 employees in our factory”, continues Peksaglam.

During a construction period of only eleven months, a highly modern production facility of + 50,000 square meters was constructed on a site of approximately 170,000 square meters neighbouring Linz Airport. The factory currently boasts six assembly lines, a testing and demo area as well as a painting facility with powder coating and sand blaster equipment. The new site also includes its own training workshop, an excellently equipped testing area, a service workshop for customer service training and even its own canteen.

Wacker Neuson has driven ahead with the sale of its compact equipment, particularly outside Europe, since the merger of Wacker Construction Equipment AG and Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG in 2007. “The new construction became necessary, both due to the constantly increasing global demand for our compact equipment and also the spatial limitations of the previous manufacturing facilities.  “In particular the increasing internationalisation of our sales activities and the exclusive supply to Caterpillar of compact excavators featuring up to three tonnes of operating weight have ensured that our order volumes continue to grow", explains Peksaglam. "We will be able to use the new facilities to expand our capacities and develop our current and future anticipated growth.”

Track and mobile excavators of up to 14 tonnes, wheel and crawler-mounted dumpers and skid steer loaders will be manufactured at the new site. “With the new production facilities, we will be able to strengthen and expand our market position. The optimised production processes and highly modern production facilities will enable us to make further improvements to the workmanship of our products and our production flexibility. This will enable us to increase our competitiveness and ultimately our market success", says Peksaglam. Wacker Neuson opened the new factory with a grand four day celebration with festivities including organised tours through the production halls, gala evenings and a variety of entertainment, kicking off on Wednesday 26th September 2012.

Addressing guests, Peksaglam said, “We have achieved promising sales figures in North and South America. However, we would also like to grow further in the Asian region, which offers huge potential for our entire product range, particularly the compact equipment. Our appearance at Bauma China in November of this year in Shanghai will show us how customers and retailers react to our products, both from the compact equipment and light equipment ranges." Hans Neunteufel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wacker Neuson SE and founder of Neuson Kramer Baumaschinen AG, said he looked forward to a promising future with further growth and expressed his absolute confidence in the Board of Directors.

Governor Dr. Josef Pühringer expressed gratitude for the strengthening of the location in Upper Austria, and, together with Hörsching mayor Günther Kastler, handed over a series of paintings of the new factory building to the managing directors. This was followed by the official cutting of the ribbon. For investors of the corporate group, the Capital Markets Day took place on Friday 28th September 2012 which was attended by well over a thousand international sales partners and their customers. An open house day on Saturday 29th September 2012 brought the celebrations to a close. According to Gert Reichetseder, managing director of Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH, over 7000 guests were welcomed over the four days. “Feedback from our guests has been overwhelming. Together we managed to inspire our visitors, particularly our distributors and customers, with our new location. This enthusiasm is borne by all elements of these opening days and naturally also by the feedback regarding our products. They are a visible sign of our power,” concludes Reichetseder.
